PROMOTION POLICY (I – V)
The school follows a ‘NO DETENTION POLICY’
- Promotion to the next class will be on the basis of average performance in all the subjects.
- For promotion, a student should secure D grade or above in all the subjects.
- In case a student is unable to secure D grade in all the subjects then the student has to appear for re-assessment in the subject/s in which he/she has secured E grade. (excluding GK and Computer Sc.)
- It is mandatory for a child to appear in all the Terms, if absent due to any reason, then he/ she has to submit a medical/ application for the same.
- In order to promote games, sports and other co-curricular activities in the school, if a child has brought laurels to the institution or participated at Zonal/ State level competition, then he/ she will be given additional 5 grace marks, if required, after verifying from the concerned activity experts.

A* - 90% and above
A - 80 – 89.99%
B* - 70 – 79.99%
B - 60 – 69.99%
C* - 50 – 59.99%

CO-SCHOLASTIC ASSESSMENT
Students will be assessed in co-scholastic areas on the basis of a five point grading scale.

This section includes assessment of skills learnt during work experience, art education, physical education, music and dance.
PROMOTION POLICY FOR CLASSES VI – X

As far as overall assessment of a student for the purpose of promotion to the next class is concerned, the following points should be kept in mind and adhered to:
I. General
- The assessment of students in terms of grades in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas is to be done as per the direction issued by the Board through different circulars issued from time to time.
- The year-end subject wise grades of a student are to be calculated on the basis of performance in all formative assessments and summative assessments in scholastic areas as well as grades obtained in co-scholastic areas.
- In scholastic areas, all the five main subjects i.e. 2 languages, Mathematics, Social Science and Science are to be considered at par for promotion.
II. Promotion to Higher Class
- Every student is required to get a qualifying grade D or above in all subjects excluding sixth additional subject as per scheme of study for the purpose of promotion to next class.
- A student getting E1 or E2 grade in scholastic areas in one or more subjects will have to improve his/her performance in one subsequent attempt to obtain qualifying Grade D in these subjects.
- If a student fails to obtain qualifying grade D in one or more subjects, after availing one improvement chance, he/ she will be required to repeat the same class during next academic year.
- It is mandatory to appear in both Summative Assessments during the academic year.
PROMOTION POLICY – IX-X
As you are aware, the CBSE has issued Circular No. Acad-05/2017 dated 31.01.2017 on the restoration of Board Examination for class X and revised assessment structure and examination for class X from Academic Year 2017-18 onwards. This new scheme will bring the uniformity in the system of assessment and examination for classes IX and X in all the CBSE affiliated schools. To increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for class X Board examination the CBSE has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment, examination pattern.
With restoration of class X Board examination, the CBSE will issue the report card for class X based on the Board examination with effect from Academic Year 2017-18. As the assessment structure and examination pattern for class IX will be similar to that of class X, the report card for class IX issued by the schools should also be similar to that of class X.

(i) Period Test (10 marks):- The school should conduct three periodic written tests in the entire academic year and the average of the best two will be taken. However, for the purpose of gradient learning, three tests will be held as one being the mid-term test and other two being pre mid and post mid-term with portion of syllabus cumulatively covered. The gradual increasing portion of contents would prepare students acquire confidence for appearing in the Board examination with 100% syllabus. The school will take the average of the best two tests for final marks submission.
(ii) Note Book Submission (5 marks):- Note Book Submission as part of internal assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of students towards preparing notes for the topics being taught in the classroom as well as assignments. This also addresses the critical aspect of regularity, punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeep.
(iii) Subject Enrichment Activities: These are subject-specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and skills of the students. These activities are to be carried out throughout the term, however, they should be evaluated at the term-end.
- Languages: Aimed at equipping the learners to develop effective listening and speaking skills. The language teachers may devise their own methods and parameters for assessment of the languages.
- Mathematics: Practical work and activities in Mathematics may be undertaken as suggested by the NCERT Syllabus and Text Books.
- Science: Practical work and activities in Science may be undertaken as suggested by the NCERT Syllabus and Text Books.
- Social Science: Map or the project work may be undertaken as suggested by the NCERT Syllabus and Text Book.

- Co-Scholastic Activities: - For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities will be carried out in schools. These activities will be graded on a 5-point grading scale (A to E) and will have no descriptive indicators. No upscaling of grades will be done.

(b) Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)
(c) Health and Physical Education (Sports/Martial Arts/Yoga/NCC etc.)
- Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour, Values): Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and it helps build character. Sincerity, good behaviour and values develop strength and foster unity and co-operation. Therefore, the element of discipline has been introduced. Class teacher will be responsible for grading the students on a Five-point scale (A-E).
The internal assessment comprising 20marks (10+5+5) entails objectivity and a structured approached. For a holistic assessment the teachers are expected to make it an effective tool.
RETEST POLICY (CLASS –IX-X)
- It is mandatory for a child to appear in all exams. No exemption will be given. Only in case of extreme medical emergency, child may be granted leave and retest may be conducted with Principal’s approval (after careful scrutiny of medical certificate).
- Special exemption may be given to students representing the school at National / International Level with prior approval from Principal.
- In case a child missed any exam on account of participation in any event on behalf of school, Retest will be duly conducted.
- Leave application & medical certificate from a Government /Government recognised Hospital/Dispensary should be submitted within 3 days of Absence for any kind of consideration.
PROMOTION POLICY – XI
- It is mandatory to have 75% attendance to sit for the annual examination.
- Marks / grades shall be awarded for individual subjects and the aggregate marks shall not be given in report card.
- The qualifying marks in each scholastic subject shall be 33%. However in a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in theory and 33% marks in practical separately, in addition to 33% marks in aggregate, in order to qualify in that subject.
- Cumulative Marks in decimals will be rounded off to the next whole number if above 0.5 and to the preceding whole number if below 0.5.
- In order to be declared as having passed the examination, a candidate shall obtain a grade higher than E (i.e. at least 33% marks) in theory of all the five scholastic subjects in the main or at the compartmental examinations.
- A candidate who does not appear or fails at one or all the chances of compartment shall be treated to have failed in the examination.
- Syllabi and courses for the compartmental candidates shall be the as same applicable to the candidates appearing for SA-2 examination.
- For subjects involving practical work, in case the candidate has passed in practical at the main examination, he/she shall appear only in theory part and previous practical marks will be carried forward and accounted for. In case a candidate has failed in practical he /she shall have to appear in theory and practical both irrespective of the fact the he /she already cleared the theory examination.
